My apologies for bringing up a film that may not be new, but chances are that if you are looking at this blog, this will be one of the most interesting documentaries you will see in a long time.
“The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters” follows Steve Wiebe, a middle school science teacher, at an attempt at getting the world’s record high score in the popular 80′s arcade game, “Donkey Kong”. Wiebe, who has never been able to get ahead, finds himself devoting his time to defeat the reigning champion, Billy Mitchell. Now, I know what you’re probably thinking, “why do I care who gets the world record in an outdated arcade game?”, well don’t let the silly premise fool you. “The King of Kong” is your classic good guy vs. bad guy story and will be sure to have you cheering for the protagonist and despising the antagonist by the end of the film. If you are a hardcore gamer or if you have never dropped a quarter into an arcade machine before, this documentary will have you involved and at the edge of your seat.
I highly recommend this documentary to anyone and everyone. Once you get past the fact that the basis of the film is the “Donkey Kong” game, you will find yourself immersed in the drama this story creates. The DVD is available now and you can check out the trailer below. If you have seen “The King of Kong” before, feel free to leave a comment with your own review for the less fortunate Angry Webbers that have yet to experience it.

I noticed your review of “The King of Kong”. We are distributing a very similar gaming documentary, “E-Athletes”, which releases on DVD, January 27th, 2009.
Attached is a sell sheet.
We would love to send you a screener for review.
Would you be of interest? If so, what would be the best address to send you a copy?
Thank you so much and look forward to hearing from you.
