According to an interview with director Sam Raimi on FearNET, it is highly likely that the potential villain in the 4th Spiderman installment will be Morbius. When asked about a possible role in the film for a vampire, Raimi replied “What? I don’t know anything about that”, virtually winking at the camera. He also continues to discuss his interest in vampires in a traditional sense such as bat transformations, crucifixes, garlic, and the sensual nature of a vampire attack.
There is also a possibility of finally bringing in Dr. Curt Connors as The Lizard, who has been hinted at in the first 3 films. This wouldn’t be too much of a surprise as I could definitely see the film exploring genetic mutation involving lizards and bats in an experimental laboratory. With these 2 amazing villains in the mythology and Raimi’s endeavor to correct his mistakes from the third installment, could “Spiderman 4″ be the film that brings the franchise back on its feet? I certainly think so.
