chrisnolan1 Nolan not confirmed for Batman 3?We have some slightly disheartening news for all you fanboys here.  The latest update over at Batman-on-Film.com reports that director Christopher Nolan has still not signed on for a third Batman film nor is he interested in making it.  Contrary to all the rumors that Warner Bros greenlit his next film “Inception” in order to give him time to consider a third film, apparently this was never the case.

According to the source at BOF…

“The death of Heath Ledger in January of 2008 rocked Mr. Nolan hard. So hard that Chris was convinced that TDK was going to be it for him and Batman on film,” adding that the Joker was envisioned as the villain in the third film.

The source also states that BOF was correct that Nolan is developing a story with Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer, but they don’t expect the film to hit theaters until at least 2012. He also mentions that it might not even be until 2013 and strangely, that there currently isn’t even a story for “Batman 3″. How odd, as it had been stated months ago that Jonah Nolan and David Goyer had indeed been working on the story since “The Dark Knight” was released. We’re thinking this is just a miscommunication with the source.

Whether or not Chris Nolan will be directing the third Bat film, I think we can at least expect that he’ll have some involvement with the project; perhaps as a producer. Of course, while it’s still early and details are sketchy, we really can’t come to any conclusions at the time. However, look at it this way – Jonah Nolan and David Goyer have plenty of time to come up with a worthy story by the time Chris Nolan finishes “Inception”. Don’t give up all hope, guys. Things can change quite a lot in a couple years’ time. Nolan just needs his break for now.
