The Hollywood Reporter states that Ryan Reynolds has been chosen to play Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern in the film adaptation. While the deal isn’t final yet as money and specifics still need to be discussed, Reynolds is the final choice.
What could this mean for Fox’s plans for Reynolds to star in the “Deadpool” spin-off? Come on, isn’t there a rule somewhere that states actors aren’t allowed to play more than one superhero on film? While Reynolds may be a decent choice for Hal Jordan, this could be quite confusing when we see the actor starring as both characters possibly even in the same year. I’m sure audiences will be arguing over which role Reynolds played better as. Will he be the definitive Wade Wilson or the definitive Hal Jordan? I now wonder if he’s still being considered as The Flash anymore. And if Bale bails “Batman 3″ (hehe), why can’t Reynolds play Bruce Wayne? Problem solved! Although the “Justice League” movie would be quite a problem…hmm.
Warner Bros plans to shoot the film in January, likely at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney for an estimated $150 million. Martin Campbell will direct the project written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Michael Green.
“Green Lantern” is scheduled for a June 17th, 2011 release date.
What do you guys think about the casting choice?
