The latest from The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Green Lantern” has officially pulled out of production in Australia. The reasons for the move are reportedly due to “the current global economic situation, including fluctuations in currency valuation and overall costs. We have also had to reassess film projects in other countries as well.”
Warner Bros. Pictures offered the following statement:
“After working closely with our partners at the NSW Film and Television Office (Screen NSW) and examining every scenario, we have decided to move the production of ‘Green Lantern.’ We are extremely grateful for the assistance we have received from the NSW Government, Fox Studios and the NSW filmmaking community.”
Do not despair though! The production is, indeed, expected to soon relocate to either Mexico or Canada.
“Green Lantern” is currently slated for a June 17th, 2011 release date.
