batman3 And the official release date for Batman 3 is...

JULY 20th, 2012! Warner Bros made the official announcement earlier today. Along with that, you might have already heard of the 20-film deal that the studio has signed with IMAX – “Batman 3″ and the Superman reboot both being on the list. Under the deal, Warner Bros is contracted to release 20 of their future projects in the IMAX format. While this does not necessarily mean the films will be shot in IMAX, there is already talk from director Chris Nolan and cinematographer Wally Pfister taking on the challenge for the third Bat installment.

As you might recall, “The Dark Knight” began principal photography in April 2007 with a July 2008 release date. Expect a similar schedule for the next film, which will likely begin filming in April 2011.

Once again, “Batman 3″ hits theaters July 20th, 2012!

Crackdown returns

Posted by Julian Nasserian On April - 23 - 2010

Itching to collect stat-building orbs? Well you might not have to wait much longer. The long awaited sequel to the hit Xbox-360 game from 2007 returns to the platform on July 6th.

Crackdown 2 is ready for anyone who has not played the previous game. However, those returning gamers might not recognize Pacific City. The story takes its cue from the original game, with slightly more destruction, new weapons, and zombies. Yes…zombies. A virus has unknowingly been released in the city transforming much of the population into mutated “freaks” that seek to challenge our hero. The answer? Stay atop the buildings during nighttime. Hence, another new feature: a new day/night dynamic.

Tired of playing solo? A returning feature from the original Crackdown is the Co-op feature. However, new to the franchise is the sequel’s 16-player competitive Deathmatch mode that will allow players to plasma grenade their fellow man.

Ruffian games seeks to improve on the minor setbacks of the first game, as well as add new dynamic features and more weapons to make a fresh new game. Look for Crackdown 2 in stores this summer.

Iron Man 2: Not just a movie

Posted by Jessica Arias On April - 23 - 2010

Hey there believers! With the massive success of it’s predecessor, Iron Man 2 the movie seeks to outdo its own franchise. And as every gamer knows, a great movie deserves a great video game. Just like the movie, Iron Man 2: The Video Game hopes to improve on some minor issues of its former self. Some noted improvements include: easier flying, the ability to play as War Machine. Yet another factor that iron man fans are excited about. We had the chance to see War Machine in ” Marvel vs Capcom” and “Marvel Ultimate Allance 2″. But now you have the chance to control him. And finally, the storyline has been written by long-time Invincible Iron Man comicbook franchise writer, Matt Fraction.

Suit up with Iron Man 2: The Video Game for all platforms on May 4th.

Wally Pfister talks cinematography for “Batman 3″

wallypfister Wally Pfister talks cinematography for Batman 3

Wally Pfister, longtime cinematographer for director Chris Nolan, was recently interviewed with Cinematical regarding his shooting plans for the third Batman installment. When asked about whether “Batman 3″ would be shot in 3D, Pfister stated that he and Chris Nolan have shown a “mutual disinterest” in the format and commented with the following:

“I did it for one shot of The Dark Knight because he said, you have to say you did it, and literally I had this strapped to my shoulder and I was carrying it. But I think Chris is game for doing something interesting like that, Lord knows that the 3-D fad might pass by the time that summer comes around.”

Despite not shooting in 3D, Pfister did reveal that he and Nolan have had discussions on shooting the entire film in IMAX:

“What Chris and I have talked about is doing something cool and something interesting.  ”[Director] Brad Bird was [saying] ‘you’ve got to shoot the whole thing in IMAX!’ I was like, yeah, I’ve talked to Chris about that.”

Pfister also shared some of Nolan’s thoughts about shooting on celluloid film versus digital:

“But I know one thing about the film that Chris is adamant about is that he wants to shoot on film.  He doesn’t want to shoot on video, and I’m the same way.”

Well, I suppose we’ve heard as much as we need to be convinced that Chris Nolan will indeed be directing the third film, right?  While we still can’t confirm anything without an official announcement, Batman-on-Film has actually stated that Warner Bros is scheduled to announce the third film in July – do I hear Comic-Con?  Stay tuned.

mvc3 Marvel vs. Capcom 3 teaser hits!

It’s been 10 years since Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was released and now Marvel has released the teaser trailer for the 3rd installment in the popular fighting series.  Marvel has stated the following:

The diverse roster of characters and locations has not been fully revealed yet, but the initial list of playable fighters includes Wolverine, Hulk and Iron Man from the Marvel side, plus Ryu, Morrigan and Chris Redfield from team Capcom. Producer Ryota Niitsuma and Capcom are working feverishly to get as many characters into the game and plan to have roughly 30 in the game when it smashes onto consoles next year. With 10 years between titles, new characters have come to the fore for both Marvel and Capcom, so expect the roster to include brawlers both classic and brand new to the series.

“Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds” will be released in the spring of 2011 on the PS3 and Xbox360.

Apple’s New iPhone revealed!

iphone4g Apples New iPhone revealed!

I’m sure many of you have already stumbled across the news by now, but in case you haven’t, we’ll be happy to fill you in. Earlier today, an iPhone, discreetly wrapped in an iPhone 3GS case, was discovered in a bar in Redwood City, CA. The case was removed and to much surprise was revealed to apparently be Apple’s next generation iPhone. The following details are taken from Gizmodo:

What’s new

• Front-facing video chat camera
• Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)
• Camera flash
• Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)
• Improved display. It’s unclear if it’s the 960×640 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the “Connect to iTunes” screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.
• What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack
• Split buttons for volume
• Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic

What’s changed

• The back is entirely flat, made of either glass (more likely) or ceramic or shiny plastic in order for the cell signal to poke through. Tapping on the back makes a more hollow and higher pitched sound compared to tapping on the glass on the front/screen, but that could just be the orientation of components inside making for a different sound
• An aluminum border going completely around the outside
• Slightly smaller screen than the 3GS (but seemingly higher resolution)
• Everything is more squared off
• 3 grams heavier
• 16% Larger battery
• Internals components are shrunken, miniaturized and reduced to make room for the larger battery
