Angry Girl Of The Week: Katia

Since I am currently in the midst of playing through “Alice: Madness Returns”, I wanted to introduce you all to Katia in this week’s edition of Angry Girls.

Katia is an educated geek gal with a bit of a dark side. Her love of video games, great TV shows and comic books makes her the perfect candidate for the Angry Web Girl of the Week.

Name: Katia
Age: 27

Tell us a bit about yourself.
They call me “Princess Nightmare” on the count of conflicting girlyness with gothiness. I collect original comic art and screen worn costumes and props. I have also made costumes, as well as some bags and other things. I love cats, books, movies, comics…and anything and everything related to “Wonderland.” I have degrees in art history, archeology, and fashion accessory design and am currently working on starting my own company…for which I have a booth this year at New York Comicon.

What do you like to do for fun?
Dress up and take pictures! Or watch crime shows. And I read a lot…everything from Harry Potter (about a million times) and Sword of Truth, to Tana French’s mysteries, to Pretty Little Liars.

What do you want to do for a living?
Be Catwoman? Kidding! I would love for the little business that I have started to grow enough that it could be my life. I have always wanted to model professionally but I’m only 5′ tall so that’s out!

What type of video games, TV shows and movies do you like?
I LOVE crime shows like Dexter, Castle, Criminal Minds, Bones and the CSIs. As for videogames, if I am playing one it’s either American McGee’s Alice (1&2) or Kingdom Hearts (1&2). I tend to just keep going back to them. I love horror movies, the older ones over the newer ones like Hitchcock or the old Halloween (not the remakes) and  super hero movies are always a lot of fun too.

What is your favorite comic book?
Too many to choose from! I liked Batman: The Long Halloween and Catwoman: When In Rome a lot and I love Green Arrow/Black Canary….But I think I have to say the Emma Frost series because the beginning was frighteningly similar to my own childhood experiences.

Tell us something interesting about youself.
“Why sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast!” It’s true, I do tend to believe the impossible, which occasionally makes the impossible possible.

Why did you decide to dress like the characters you portrayed?
I do all sorts of them. American McGee’s Alice is one of the few REALLY cool brunettes. I feel like I look enough like the character with enough of some similar personality traits to pull it off pretty well, especially because of my love of Wonderland which is why I did the Queen of Hearts as well. As for the superhero costumes, who doesn’t want to be a little bit of a lovely badass in really tight clothes sometimes haha, and I do a lot of Legend of the Seeker because I have a bit of screen worn stuff (and a couple of replicas that I modeled) and I love the Sword of Truth Books and feel like I kind of relate to Kahlan…well, when she’s not in the middle of a major battle and jumping from horse to horse…I am not so sure I would be very good at that. But character personality in general, she is one of my favorite literary characters of all time.

Anything else we should know about you?
I’m fabulous! 😉

Wow, that Alice picture is really amazing.
I realize it’s been up for a bit, but it’s nothing short of a “real” Alice from the game.

      Yep, she does great work!

  2. Katia

    Holy crap.
This girl has the same name and costume as me. Also her personality and interests are virutally the same as mine.

    This is freaky! D:
Nice alice cosplay though. I think I may try to get a set like that! 😀
