It’s almost September and you know what that means, DC is about to relaunch the DC Universe heroes with all new story lines, a new style and a new philosophy (TV commercial). A lot of comic book fans are skeptical about a relaunch of such classic characters but with Jim Lee behind it, I personally feel we are in good hands.
Though comic book heroes are a huge hit in the theaters, getting people to read comics has proved to be a challenge. Major publishers like Marvel and DC have resorted to going digital by creating iPad and iPhone apps. One of the reasons these reboots are a great idea is because it allows a new generation to get involved in comic books rather than jumping into a series hundreds of issues in with little knowledge of any back story.
Collectors today would kill for a #1 issue of any major comic book and this relaunch will give people that feeling of being a part of something that may be big a few years down the road. What DC is doing has created an excitement that people want to be a part of. As someone who typically reads comics digitally, I can’t wait to get my greasy fingers on a mint copy of Batman or Superman issue #1.
