After years of talking about it, “Ghostbusters 3″ is back in the press. A recent interview with Dan Aykroyd on Denis Miller’s radio show produced a bit of information.

Aykroyd stated that they hope to begin shooting in the Spring of next year and that the work of the Ghostbusters would be handed down to a younger generation of paranormal police.

“Ray is now blind in one eye and can’t drive the Ecto 1 anymore. He’s got a bad knee and can’t pick up the pack. … Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood, and that’s the premise. We’re gonna hand it to a new generation. Production in the spring, I hope.”

The new team will consist of 3 men and 1 woman who I’m sure will be nerdgasm worthy. Aykroyd also went on to say that Bill Murray’s character is a big part of the movie and he would basically be the lead (even though the movie is more team driven than individually focused). There was no word if Murray has signed on to the project yet.
