This week we are proud to introduce you to another Canadian cosplayer and fellow geek.

Not only does Gillian have some great tastes in music, movies and TV but any girl who can hold her own in Magic The Gathering is OK in my book. We selected her because she is one of the best looking Catwoman cosplayers we’ve seen and once I received some of her other shots, I knew we had made a great choice with this week’s Angry Girl.

Age: 21

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’ve been costuming since 2005 and have been a nerd since birth. Saturday morning cartoons started my addiction to comic books and Batman which has only evolved over the years.  My name is Gillian but I go by Gillykins online, if you see the username on forums or Xbox Live there is the 95% chance that it is me.

What do you like to do for fun?
In my spare time I love to cook, play video games, sew, read and play tennis.  A lot of my spare time is devoted to costuming but luckily I find the creative process fun. I split my time between my friends, family, work, video games, reading comics, working out and cooking delicious food.

What do you want to do for a living?
As much as I’d love to be Batman, realistically I’m just a student graduating from university.  Ideally I’ll end up working in marketing since I have a ridiculous knowledge of cultural studies and advertising, my second love after comics.

What type of video games, music, TV shows and movies do you like?
My favorite video game of all time is a tie between Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Diablo 2, I have put a lot of game play into each of the games over the years.  When it comes to music lately I’ve been listening to a lot of The Black Keys and AWOLNATION. My gym playlist is drastically different from my everyday music.

I’m currently addicted to Breaking Bad (soooo far behind) but some of my favorite series are Batman: The Animated Series, Daria, Sherlock and Game of Thrones.  My favoritism films are Trainspotting and Spirited Away.

What is your favorite comic book?
My favourite comic book is Batman: Hush, I have a major love affair with anything and everything Batman.  Some of my favorite series are Zatanna, Jokers Asylum, Birds of Prey, Transmetropolitain and Fables.

Tell us something interesting about yourself.
I am an award winning costumer at the master level in ICG ranking.  I’m a completely self taught in sewing and still feel like I barely know what I’m doing.  I love getting to use my background in fine arts and improve in costuming to help bring the character to life.

I have more than a fondness to tea; I have a collection of different bagged and loose leaf teas that keep my warm and caffeinated during the Canadian winter.  If anyone ever finds a interesting new tea I always want to try it.

Anything else we should know about you?
I’m a Costuming, Gaming, Comic Book Readings, Cooking and Caffeinated nerd from Toronto. Gaming is second nature to me; I rarely pass up a chance for a slayer match in Halo or Meph Run.  I also love playing Magic the Gathering; I play with friends for hours on end some nights.

You can see more of Gillian’s work by following her at Twitter, Facebook and deviantART.

If you are interested in becoming one of our girls of the week, send 4-5 photos and answer the questions above to Daniel@AngryWeb.net.

Spider Man becomes politically correct

The super hero who is half human and half spider is now also half black and half hispanic. After the death of Peter Parker, Marvel made their move towards a new Spider Man in ”Ultimate Fallout” No. 4 which will be released tomorrow.

Ultimate Fallout pic 2 Spider Man becomes politically correctThe new Spider Man’s name is Mile Morales who puts on the costume in an effort to pick up where Peter Parker left off in his quest to fight crime and defeat the Green Goblin once and for all.

“He’s younger than Peter Parker, he’s coming from a completely different background, a completely different world view,” Bendis (creator) said. “It’s Peter Parker’s death that inspires this kid to step up.”

The “Ultimate” series is separate from the traditional “Spider Man” series where Peter Parker is alive and well.

This is certainly a different direction for Marvel as they are showing an effort to identify with different cultures but is this just a cheap way to appeal to different audiences? Why did it have to be a person of mixed races instead of either a black male or hispanic male?

My Spidey Sense is tingling and I smell a marketing stunt…

UPDATED: TDKR Pittsburgh production update and set photos

Posted by Eugene Wong On August - 2 - 2011

Filming is currently underway in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for “The Dark Knight Rises” and we have video of the press conference held this past Thursday, July 28th.

Additionally, a slew of curious set photos have been released, a few of which show Tom Hardy as Bane clad in a military vest, cargo pants, and leather jacket. The remainder of the photos show Gary Oldman (Commissioner Gordon), Marion Cotillard (Miranda Tate), Chris Nolan and cinematographer Wally Pfister, a lineup of prisoners in orange jumpsuits entering Gotham City Hall, and interestingly enough, the ‘camoed’ Tumbler from the first film…does it come in black…again?

Holy pre-order Batman!

batman arkham city 20110801003017886 530x275 Holy pre order Batman!

Some new goodies have just been announced for people pre-ordering “Batman: Arkham City”.

They are releasing some awesome alternate Batman skins for the game. Unfortunately, they have only been announced for the UK so far. No other territories have been announced at this time. I have to say that my favorites are the Batman Beyond and the Animated Series skins. I just hope these will be in-game choices and not just challenge map skins. Which one are you most looking forward to?

Bane seen destroying photos of Harvey Dent?

A recent image taken in Pittsburgh during the filming of “Dark knight Rises” shows Bane ripping and throwing images of Harvey Dent. As of now, there is no explanation as to why he’s doing it but Harvey’s legacy from “The Dark Knight” appears to be playing a role in the upcoming film.

In our effort to bring you more exclusive content, we will be featuring unsigned and undiscovered artists that we feel would appeal to our audience.

The first band in our series is based out of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, CA. Terminal VI is a rock band that utilizes a combination of catchy melodies with lyrical gold.

vision 530x534 Angry Web Featured Artist: Terminal VIFormed in 2009, TERMINAL VI is a dynamic rock group bursting out of the Los Angeles music scene bringing the focus of great songwriting and musicianship back to the world of rock. Big choruses, unforgettable melodies, strong lyrics, ripping guitar solos and creative percussion serve as a reminder of what rock music can be.

TERMINAL VI tributes the band’s unique sound to its individual members, each from distinct musical backgrounds. It’s this diverse mix that allows them to draw influences on everything from hard rock to electronica, and everything in between, creating a truly original sound.

From their demo release in March 2009, to their 2010 “Honor in Struggle” EP release, TERMINAL VI has launched a movement in the Southern California region, which thanks to dedicated fans has rapidly spreading across the globe. And although the music emits dark undertones, the band’s message is always positive; stay true to who you are, believe in yourself and never stop fighting.

Be sure to check out the 2 songs embedded below and purchase their debut album, “Visions”, which releases today and is available on iTunes.

You can see and hear more Terminal VI at their website or their MySpace page.
