Fans of “The Dark Knight” may remember running around their home town and showing support for Harvey Dent or looking for Joker cards that gained them entry to a theatrical trailer. In my lifetime, I had never seen a viral campaign for a movie that intricate (check out our collection of viral materials from 2008).
Well fans have been wondering if they would be able to call in sick to work once again in order to play more games on their city streets leading up to the release of “The Dark Knight Rises”.
So far, the viral campaign has yet to stack up to that of it’s predeceasing film with the exception of some bat stickers that were placed around the world and found by folks on Twitter which then unlocked another trailer.
This week, fans of the film who have taken part in the Mountain Dew promotional game have been treated to some more marketing for “The Dark Knight Rises” with pages from the “Gotham Observer”. These pages allude to a Harvey Dent Day that is supposed to take place in Gotham and can be seen in the photos circulating the web where Bane tosses around photos of the fallen District Attorney.
