2012 Anime Expo coverage

Another year, another Anime Expo.

AX 2012 brought in a huge crowd this year as fans of anime, comic books and Japanese culture gathered at the Los Angeles Convention Center in the heart of downtown. Here, fans can shop from hundreds of vendors, take a stroll through Artist’s Ally or even dress up as their favorite character from the realm of gaming, manga or anime. We don’t typically cover anime on this site but for those who haven’t had the chance to visit Anime Expo, it’s like nothing you’ve seen before.

This year, the downtown area of Los Angeles was packed with not only a huge turnout for the expo itself (bigger than previous years) but it was sharing space with the 2012 X Games. Once we got financially raped with parking and fought our way through the busy streets to pick up our press badges, we were good to go.

The event resembled a huge swap meet of imports from Japan and some up and coming companies that catered to the industry were their promoting their business. The only things to worry about was spending too much money on products that were too tempting to ignore and checking out hot girls only to discover it was a guy in a Lolita dress.

Though I may not be a fan of anime, I respect the art and the industry. This was my 3rd consecutive year going and I have to say, it really is a blast.

Here are some photos of our favorite cosplayers from the event. If you have photos of the event you would like to be added, email them to daniel@angryweb.net and we will add them to the gallery below.
