Christopher Nolan releases statement on Aurora shooting

If you aren’t aware of the situation already, you may have been living under a rock. We here at Angry Web try to bring you light hearted articles so we won’t be going into the details surrounding the shooting in Aurora, CO. during the midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises”.

Though this whole ordeal has been tied closely to TDKR, it was an isolated incident that really could have happened during any film and the cloud that is now hovered over a truly brilliant film is unfortunate.

Though Warner Bros. (who has since pulled the “Gangster Squad” trailers from theaters due to a scene which includes a shooting at a theater) and Christopher Nolan have nothing to do with the incedent, they have com out with formal statements condemning the tragedy.

The following is the statement Nolan released:

Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of The Dark Knight Rises, I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community. I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families.

Gar Oldman had also stated:

My prayers and deepest sympathies are with the victims and their families of this horrific act.

We truly hope movie goers can move past this isolated incident as not to pass up a brilliant film. We here at AW have the victims and their families in our thoughts.
