Director/Producer Tony Scott jumped to his death yesterday, August 19, from the Vincent Thomas Bridge spanning the area between San Pedro and Terminal Island. According to Los Angeles County coroner’s officials, Scott (68) climbed a fence on the south side of the bridge’s apex and jumped off “without hesitation” around 12:30 p.m.
Tony Scott, brother of director Ridley Scott, had directed such films as Days of Thunder, Unstoppable, and probably his most famous film, Top Gun. This news came as a huge shock to the entertainment community and his family. It has been said that a suicide note was found at Scott’s home but the contents of that letter or the possible reason for this tragedy has yet to be determined.
