Angry Girl Of The Week: Jenna Marie

First off, I want to say thank you to all of the girls who have been submitting their photos in hopes of being the next Angry Girl. We definitely haven’t stopped the feature, per se, but we are extremely lazy. Keep sending in photos and we’ll get around to sifting through all of them. Whether you are a geeky girl who wants to show off her 12 sided dice or a cosplayer who lives as her favorite super hero, we want to hear from you!

This week we bring to you a hula hoop dancer who has a love for the geeky hobbies. Jenna Marie is an educated Angry Girl who portrays Juliet from “Lollipop Chainsaw” and Ariel from “The Little Mermaid”…the perfect cosplay Yin and Yang.

Name:  Jenna Marie

Age: 26

Tell us a bit about yourself.
For most of my life I have been a dancer. More recently I have been involved with sport related dance teams but most of my training has been in ballet. I have danced with the Atlantic City Ballet for a number of years and continue to take ballet classes whenever I can. I currently dance for the Philadelphia Spinners Ultimate Team as a Fly Girl so hip-hop is my life right now. I also train with the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts in aerials and trapeze. Not that I plan on running away to join the circus, but at least the option is there!

What do you do for fun?
Dancing of course! But I do have two adorable cats that I love to play with. If I have any down time it is usually spent browsing or shopping online. That’s fun right? I have been addicted to ebay and etsy for a good 4 years now. If it is summer I absolutely love going to the beach!

What do you want to do for a living?
I have two college degrees that I could be utilizing, but for right now I love dancing. Of course it doesn’t matter if it is dance, music, sewing, or writing. I just need to be creative! I do love teaching dance and that is something I hope to always have in my life.

What type of video games, music, TV shows and movies do you like?
Video games…where to begin? I love everything from Katamari to Metal Gear Solid. But I am certain that Super Mario Bros. and Sonic will always have my heart. I’m looking forward to playing Soul Calibur 5 and Lollipop Chainsaw. My taste in music is constantly changing, but you can usually find me rocking out to Lady Gaga (or at least pretending to be her).  I still can’t get away from classics like southern rock and 60’s pop. That is my feel good music. I love geeks and all things geekery so it is no surprise that The Big Bang Theory is my favorite TV show right now. I will watch four adorable guys discuss quantum physics and Star Trek any day. My movie collection happens to be very odd since my two favorite genres are Disney and Horror, go figure. Is Disney even a genre? Well I don’t care it should be.

What is your favorite comic book?
I’m a fan of classics like Superman, Batman, X-Men, and Ninja Turtles because I grew up with them. More recently I have enjoyed reading the graphic novels Scott Pilgrim, The Walking Dead, and Tank Girl.

Why did you decide to dress like any characters you portray?
I tend to gravitate towards characters that are very much like me or that are the complete opposite of me. Tira from Soul Calibur III was my first cosplay and I love her because she is absolutely crazy and emotionally unstable (neither of which I am!) She also has the coolest weapon I think I’ve ever seen in video game so I knew I had to make it! This is my first year cosplaying so the possibilities seem endless right now.

Tell us something interesting about yourself.
I’m a hula hooper! I own about 6 professional hula hoops. I know that may sound funny, but there is such a thing as a professional hula hoop. I even made my own custom Hello Kitty one. I have two LED hoops for nighttime hooping and I always carry at least one in my car!
