William Shatner upset that J.J. Abrams will be directing “Star Wars”

While Shatner sat down to promote “Escape From Planet Earth”, he was asked how he felt about J.J. Abrams directing movies from both the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises.

Though he gave credit to Abrams’ skill as a director, he seemed pretty upset about the recent development.

He’s being a pig. He’s collecting the two franchises and holding them close to his vest. He’s probably the most talented director of that ilk that we have, but he’s gone too far this time. I think of him as a buddy of mine. I’ve taken him out for sushi. I think it’s time for J.J. and I to have another sushi and let me put him straight about two of the largest franchises. And not employing me in either one of them, I think, is just foolhardy.

Though the last line of the quote seems to play it off as false anger at the fact that he wasn’t cast in either project, he appears to be legitimately upset.

See it here for yourself.
