Angry Girl Of The Week: Sarah

This week we are happy to introduce you to Sara Fong.

Don’t let this week’s Angry Girl fool you. She may be an adorable cosplayer but there is much more to Sarah than meets the eye.

This ambitious IT engineer is looking to work for the Federal Government. She is a fan of RPGs and has quite the amount of hours logged on her Pokemon titles.

Enjoy the interview and then the gallery!

AngryInterview0Name: Sarah Fong

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hello! My name is Sarah Fong, I am a former casual/occasional cosplayer gone full time this past year (due to more free time and acquiring a “grown up” job to finance the hobby). I am an IT engineer by morning & day and a hermit/nerd cosplayer shut-in by night.

What do you like to do for fun?
Well, when I’m not sewing I like to huddle up inside a blanket fort and play my portable gaming consoles. RPGs are my favorite.

What do you want to do for a living?
I am in my last year of college for Information Technology, I currently work a full-time co-op for a Fortune 2000 company in Baltimore MD as an IT Security Engineering intern. My goal is to one day work for the federal government in DC as a network security engineer, and I’m currently working on obtaining my CCNA/P.

What type of video games, TV shows and movies do you like?
Video Games — My tastes have become a lot more specific in the last couple years. When I worked at GameStop as an older teenager I played a little bit of everything but now I feel like I essentially won’t touch it unless it is extremely Japanese. I’ve been wanting to play Ni No Kuni with desperate fervor. I also have started Hyper Dimension Neptunia (MK2) as well as finishing up 999 and Persona 4 Golden. I also am looking to purchase Corpse Party from the PS store soon…that looks really odd, which I like.

I have played a LOT of Street Fighter. Enough to account for 10 JRPGs. Unforuntately, I still suck at it. But I bought an arcade stick which has helped me out a bit.

TV Shows — The shows I catch every week are: How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Dexter, The Walking Dead and Faceoff.

What is your favorite comic book?
I was into comic books for a hot second a few years ago (I got really into the Blackest Night run and the Green Lantern series) but to be entirely honest, super hero comics didn’t hold my attention for terribly long. They’re okay, but I’m willing to admit comics aren’t especially my cup of tea. I’m more of a weeaboo anime/manga/JRPG kinda person.

Tell us something interesting about you.
I’m currently in the works to try and put up anime convention fan videos with my best friends (JK Cosplay), we are looking forward to attempting to showcase our cosplays in-motion as opposed to just doing still shots on our fan page.

Also I’ve probably logged about 1000 hours+ into my pokemon games, collectively.

Why did you decide to dress like the characters you portray?
1) Do I like the character?
If yes then…
2) Is the character design appealing and/or challenging?

This is where I usually weigh whether or not I like the character enough to cosplay them. I’m willing to cosplay visually unappealing characters if I like them enough.  Like Naoto Shirogange from Persona 4, I would consider her to be someone who looks incredibly plain — but I loved her so much I didn’t care one bit.

But I really can’t cosplay things I have no attachment to. There’s just characters I love too much that I’d rather do.

The way I see it is, if you don’t get goosebumps from trying pieces of your character’s costume on: you’re doing it wrong.

Anything else we should know about you?
If you are even remotely a fan of Persona and/or cosplay you should follow me on some sort of social media. 🙂 I have several media conduits.

I want to take a moment to give a special thanks to J & K of JK cosplay (my cosplay bros/best friends), Christopher Evermore (cosplayer & boyfriend), Syren Cosplay, GammoGahato Cosplay, Coreaneggroll and SevWolf,. They are all my closest friends in the con community and they are seriously incredibly awesome, all of them!

Also a special thanks to AngryWeb for asking to interview me 🙂 always appreciated.
