Posted by Daniel Nasserian On September - 10 - 2009

Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today released a “Visceral Action” trailer for Demon’s Souls™, the upcoming groundbreaking action RPG experience for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.

“Wow,” exclaimed Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Atlus, pausing for a brief moment to catch his breath and wipe his brow before continuing.  “That was a rousing trailer; it really got me excited for Demon’s Souls.  Not only is there a ton of praise from respected folks in the industry, but there are also numerous new clips of sweeping in-game cinematics, visceral combat, and atmospheric exploration gameplay footage.  I’d go so far as to say it’s a ‘must-see’ video, although I should add that I’m being paid to say so.”

Demon’s Souls for PlayStation 3 system is scheduled for North American release on October 6, 2009. The Standard Edition will retail with an MSRP of $59.99, and the Deluxe Edition, which includes a 160-page strategy guide and collectible slipcase, will retail with an MSRP of $69.99.

Fans who pre-order at select North American retailers will receive a 40-page, full-color art book AND a music CD featuring the game’s full soundtrack (secured on the inside back cover of the art book).  The disc, which offers 24 tracks totaling 71 minutes from the game’s haunting orchestral score, represents the complete Demon’s Souls soundtrack, available for the first time as part of this exclusive North American promotion.

With Gore Verbinski (“Pirates of the Caribbean”) no longer on board to direct the video game-to-film adaptation of “Bioshock”, Spanish filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has reportedly taken over the project. Fresnadillo’s credits include “28 Weeks Later” and “Intacto”.

Verbinski and Enrique Lopez Lavigne are set to produce the film, which will be penned by John Logan (“The Aviator”).

Engadget unboxes the PS3 Slim

Posted by Daniel Nasserian On August - 19 - 2009

Engadget has had the privilege to get a hands-on unboxing of the new PlayStation 3 that is due out in the UK. The updated console boasts a slimmer profile and a matte finish. According to Engadget:

The buttons in the front are now physical and actually “click” in to function. The PS logo above the disc drive does not rotate for vertical use, and yes, the hard drive is swappable — as you can see from the pictures, there’s a screw on the bottom, hidden by a panel, that lets you take off part of the front for access. We’ve also lined it up against our standard, fatty PS3, and we gotta say, it’s noticeably lighter.
