Well, it’s not “Batman 3″ if some of you still happened to be wondering about that; the third installment will have to wait quite a few years after Nolan completes his next expected masterpiece…

Wantedposter 662x1024 Wanted 2 in development“Wanted” director Timur Bekmambetov recently spoke with Russian news site RIA Novosti and stated that he has started preparations on making a sequel to the 2008 film. Angelina Jolie’s character, Fox, is also set to return somehow. SPOILER: You might remember Jolie’s character shooting herself in the head, but in a badass way at the end of the first one.

Bekmambetov stated the following:

“In July we will start preparation for the film. I think in the late autumn or winter shooting will be performed. The shooting will take place in America, India and Russia.”

Another character scheduled to return is the character played by Kostya Khabensky, who also starred in Bemambetov’s “Night Watch” and “Day Watch”.  Screenwriter Evan Spiliotopoulos has also replaced Chris Morgan in penning the screenplay for this second installment.

“Wanted 2″ is estimated to have a $150 million budget.

The latest “Ghostbusters 3″ details

ghostbusters1 The latest Ghostbusters 3 detailsA few interesting news bits on the long-awaited “Ghostbusters” sequel have been released on slashfilm.  Lately, fan hype over the franchise has been at a peak level with the upcoming June 16th releases of both the “Ghostbusters” blu-ray as well as “Ghostbusters: The Video Game”.  Things definitely seem to be looking up for the the franchise as a whole - the video game has, in fact, received an impressive 8/10 rating on IGN.  There is also news that original director Ivan Reitman is considering directing the next film.  Check out the bulleted details from slashfilm below:

  • The screenplay by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitksy still hasn’t been delivered yet, but is imminent. A running-draft or treatment has been at least shared with Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis because they’ve gone on to discuss it with the rest of us (see below, for example).
  • Ivan Reitman has told MTV that, actually, he’s willing to think about directing the next Ghostbusters film. Aykroyd had previously named Ramis as his pick to take the director’s chair if Reitman was “too busy”.
  • A five-way jury holds veto over any Ghostbusters film. Reitman is one party, three more are Murray, Ramis and Aykroyd, and the fifth is Columbia Pictures. If any of these want to nix the project, they can. It seems this would also apply to films that the individual would not be involved in – say, if Reitman wasn’t set to direct, or one of the actors was not set to appear, they could still wield the axe.
  • I was sent an e-mail from a source inside the industry who wanted to relate a little Ghostbusters 3 gossip. According to them, Jake Kasdan wants the directing gig. As in actively wants it and, I would assume, is pursuing it. If the job was mine to give, I’d be putting a bow on it for him now.

Empire magazine also interviewed Harold Ramis, who elaborated on the characer of Egon Spengler and actually shared a line of dialogue from the film:

“I’m intrigued by my idea for where Egon has been. He’s been working in the International Institute For Imaginary Science, in Geneva. He’s evolved a post-rational, non-conclusive logic for dealing with problems of chaos. Someone asks him ‘What does that mean?’ and he says ‘There are no spatial, conceptual or intellectual models to describe it – so we don’t know.’ Egon’s gone so abstract, even he doesn’t know what he’s doing!”

Dan Aykroyd was also interviewed, stating that he hopes Alyssa Milano will be playing the same character as she does in the game, in which she is a “love interest” named Dr. Ilyssa Selwyn.  Aykroyd also mentioned that Eliza Dushku would not be competing for the same role.

“Full House: The Movie”? This is a joke, right?

full house 1 Full House: The Movie? This is a joke, right?Apparently not, folks.  According to the New York Daily News, John Stamos who played Uncle Jesse in the 80s-90s TV sitcom revealed that he’s in the process of developing the concept for a big-screen version of “Full House”.  Stamos is quoted with the following:

“I’m working on a movie idea, but it wouldn’t be us playing us.  I’m not 100% sure, but it would probably take place in the first few years”

Does this mean he’s looking into a reimagining/remake of the show starring a new cast?  Wow.  If this movie does come into fruition into a box-office feature, hell will certainly have frozen over and pigs will finally sprout wings…

We’ve also found this interesting video of the show’s pilot intro, which features John Posey playing Danny Tanner instead of Bob Saget.  How trippy is this?

bryansingerxmen Bryan Singer considering return to X Men and Superman?

In a recent interview with Total Film Magazine, Bryan Singer shared his thoughts on returning to the X-Men as well as Superman franchise.  When asked about X-Men, Singer said the following:

“I’m eternally intertwined with X-Men now. What takes an audience four hours to watch – the first two movies – took six years of my life. So, to not be part of it….It’s a shame. It’s weird for me to watch [The Last Stand] because I’m so close to the universe. And also Brett is a good friend of mine. But, of course, I would love to return to that universe.”

When questioned about the planned Magneto spin-off, he answered the following:

“The only thing that concerns me about Magneto is that if the prequel were to follow the track I used in X-Men, which is Magneto’s history in the concentration camp, then I’ve lived in that world. Apt Pupil, X-Men and now Valkyrie… I’ve lived in that Nazi universe for quite a while. I just might need to take a little break before I do something like that.”

Could Singer be one of the possible candidates to direct the film?  With his familiarity with the character in the first 2 films, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s already been approached by the studio.

And finally, when asked about a possible return to a Superman sequel, this was his response:

“I don’t know, I don’t know. There are still issues. I just don’t know. I don’t necessarily…I don’t know. It’s one of those things where…It’s so weird talking about stuff unless I’m about to ramp up and shoot it.”

That sure doesn’t sound like someone who’s completely off the project.  Although let’s hope Singer favors X-Men over Superman this time around.  I think we all know which territory he really belongs in.

robert downey jr and jon favreau Favreau and Rourke talk Iron Man 2“Iron Man 2″ director Jon Favreau recently spoke to Empire magazine regarding further details on the sequel. As his “tweets” have stated, “Iron Man 2″ is currently half-way through filming. Favreau had the following to say regarding Jim Rhodes, now played by Don Cheadle:

“Rhodesy is definitely stepping up in this film. Let me put it this way: Tony’s not the only person with technology in the film.”

In addition, Mickey Rourke, who will star as Iron Man’s enemy, Whiplash, also elaborated on his character with the following:

“I’m having the time of my life! It’s been really brutal, because my Iron Man suit weighs 23lb. It’s sort of a half-suit, with half my skin showing, with lots of Russian tattoos, because [Whiplash is just] out of a Russian-zone prison.”

alien movie poster Alien remake? Blasphemy! Unless Mr. Ridley Scott is back on boardBack in April, Ridley Scott revealed that he was “toying around with the idea” of doing an “Alien” prequel or reboot.  Now, a source from Bloody Disgusting has reported on the site that an “Alien” remake is in the works with plans to “stick with the original concept of only one alien on the ship.”  Also rumored is that Michael Costigan, Ridley Scott, and Tony Scott are all on board as producers with plans for commercial/music video director Carl Erik Rinsch to helm the film.  A separate source, however, at Bloody Disgusting has also reported that Fox is working on an origin story as opposed to a remake.  So what’s really going on behind Fox’s doors?  Would you rather see a remake of the original classic or an origin story?  Or would you rather those dollar bill-waving execs at Fox simply scrap this project altogether?  Tell us what you think in the comments below.
