Johnny Depp looks a little less creepy in this Entertainment Weekly photo than he did in the previous photos we posted in which his face was painted completely white. Crossing my fingers that Burton and Depp have a good film on their hands.

It wasn’t long ago that I joined the ranks of angry consumers about Netflix’s decision to split their streaming service and DVD by mail service into two separate entities and charge users 60% more to use both.
I received an email stating my plan was going to go up to $18 a month and I started weighing my options. I never grasped on to the streaming service since most of the movies were bad documentaries or older movies that I found myself watching due to lack of options. With Starz leaving and taking their newer movies (produced by Disney and Sony) with them early next year, I figured now was a good time to move on.
Blockbuster offers games, Blu Rays and Warner Bros. movies the day they come out at a fraction of the price I was paying for Netflix so I joined and couldn’t be happier.
Now I know Netflix is partially the victim here since the studios raised their licensing fees, but what ever happened to companies that did what’s best for consumers? Reed Hastings has been cocky and told his share holders that there would be some backlash but it would not be detrimental.
Here we are, 2 weeks after the price hikes and Netflix’s stocks have dropped almost 50% (18% on Thursday and another 8% on Friday) and they missed their projected subscriber mark by almost a 1 million users. Customers aren’t happy, shareholders aren’t happy and Netflix continues to dig their own grave.
In a new blog post on Netflix’s site, Hastings apologized to it’s users but did nothing to stop the bleeding. In fact, many users continue to hit the Netflix Facebook page saying this is only worsening the wound. Hastings announced that Netflix would be splitting the streaming service even further by naming the DVD by mail feature Qwickster and moving forward with Netflix as a streaming only service.
By doing this, they are forcing their users to use two different sites for two different services. They also announced that this fall, they would be renting video games. But like the Blu Ray price upgrade, you will need to pay more to use this service as well.
It will be quite interesting to see what the stocks do tomorrow but while Amazon, Walmart (Vudu) and Hulu continue to take from the market, Netflix’s arrogance and poor decisions may just spell doom for the popular company.
Hey Ghostbusters fans! It’s time to see some slime in the big screen, because this October 2011, for the first time in over 25 years Ghostbusters is coming to theaters! Again! The original unforgettable makes its triumphant return to theaters.
Some new pictures of Johnny Depp have been floating around the internet today from the set of Tim Burton’s upcoming vampire flick, “Dark Shadows”. We have no idea why Depp is walking around in the sunlight looking like Michael Jackson but I’ll lay my faith in Tim Burton’s ability as a filmmaker and Depp’s acting capability and hopefully we will have a badass vampire movie where the undead don’t turn to diamonds in the sun.

It’s really tough to call it a fan film as the sheer quality of Bat in the Sun’s productions are extremely advanced and seemingly expensive. For the most part, the acting is good, the filming locations are stellar and the stories are well thought out.
Bat in the Sun has had their most recent success with the 30 minute short “City of Scars”. You won’t see and Aliens or Predators in the Bat in the Sun productions like you would in Dead End (which frankly, I couldn’t stand), but instead will get a decent character drama with the heroes and villains we love from the original comic series.
Bat in the Sun’s upcoming “Seeds of Arkham” is set to release on Daily Motion this October 7th. It was just announced that Killer Croc would be one of the villains and this is something I can’t wait to see executed by a small budget production.
“Seeds of Arkham” is directed by Aaron Schoenke and features Kevin Porter as Batman. If you have yet to see “City of Scars”, you can view the full 30 minute film below.
