The generic city name has had fans wondering for decades just where in the world Springfield is located. Though the staff often throws out ambiguos suggestions like it “being larger than Texas” or “within driving distance to California and Nevada” (from the season 1 commentary), there was no real hint as to which state Springfield belongs to.

In a recent interview with Smithsonian magazine, Matt Groening stated:

When I grew up, I realized it was just a fictitious name. I also figured out that Springfield was one of the most common names for a city in the U.S.

In anticipation of the success of the show, I thought, ‘This will be cool; everyone will think it’s their Springfield.’ And they do,”.

Groening admitted that The Simpsons’ Springfield was based on the city just 100 miles south of his hometown in Portland, Oregon.

After fan contests and much speculation, fans finally have an answer to one of the biggest mysteries surround the Simpsons.

Today (Sunday) I sat down to catch up on the DC Nation’s Young Justice as well as watch the premier of Marvel Universe on Disney XD.

Young Justice – Insecurity (S1E23)
First I want to say, that it was not a Tardis in the new episode this weekend. But I can see how people would think that and I am sure that the writers knew what they were doing there.

However, its just a simple police box that they use to enter their hideout.

ALRIGHT, this episode marked the return of Red Arrow (Roy Harper…my love) who decided to join the team after much pressure form Green Arrow. Here I thought he was joining the team to be apart of it but he’s just in it to try to out Artemis. But its okay, as long as he’ll be in future episodes I am okay.

This episode was basically about them trying to hunt down Sportsmaster while Artemis was trying to deter them to protect her secret. What was the secret? If you didn’t watch it I wont spoil it for you.

Where the heck was Robin? Did they talk about this? I may have missed it..but he was no where to be seen in this episode. I am okay with it seeing as how he kind of annoys me.

I was totally thrown off for a second when Black Spider appeared because at first I thought it was Spider-Man incognito (I know stupid right) and THEN I thought “well it sounds like Nolan North (who does Superboy) but it wasn’t..it was Josh Keaton who does Hal Jordan on the new Green Lantern show and voice Sidey back in The Spectacular Spider-Man back in 2008.

Overall, great return for Red Arrow and I do hope to see Red Tornados transformation to John Smith soon!

Ultimate Spider-Man – Great Power (S1E1)
In Great Power we are introduced to Peter who has been Spider-Man for a year now. He tells us about how he got his power, what he does and the death of Uncle Ben. Nick Fury wants him to train under S.H.I.E.L.D to be come the Ultimate Spider-Man but Peter isn’t sure if he should.

All the while debating of if he should train under Nick, the Frightful Four are after Spider-Man after learning he attends Midtown High. Who is behind the attack? You’ll have to watch to find out!

I HONESTLY thought I wouldn’t like this cartoon. But oh my goodness is brilliant. It’s a great mix of comedy and action without going overboard on the comedy. Lots of 4th wall breaking as well. Drake Bell makes a GREAT Peter I don’t know why they didn’t think of it sooner. Also keep an eye out for Stan the janitor who will be making appearances.

In this episode we get a hilarious appearance from Iron Man and a brief one of Captain America!

Ultimate Spider-Man – Great Responsibility (S1E2)
In this episode, Peter decides to take Nick up on his offer to train under him and become the Ultimate  Spider-Man. He meets his new ‘team members’ White Tiger, Power Man, Nova and Iron Fist and once again the Frightful Four are again sent to go after Spider-Man. Also in this episode Peter wonders wether or not he should meet MJ in person as Spider-Man to help her get an article done to present to Jameson.

The one thing that threw me off about this episode was that they (S.H.I.E.L.D) tried to give Spidey some more..’toys’ shall we say other than his standard web shooter. They gave him something they dubbed the Spidey Cycle which was like this really high tech motorcycle that could ride on just about anything..including his web. I know it’s a cartoon but…a huge motorcycle riding on a tiny web?

This episode shows how the ‘team’ can work together and how Spidey is somewhat of a leader to the group because he’s been in the field longer (thats what they made it seem like anyway).

Clark Gregg who plays Coulson in the movies also voices Coulson in the cartoon and the resemblance is uncanny. They did a great job at making him look like Clark Gregg haha.

The episode ends with Peter’s ‘team’ joining him as classmates AND Coulson being the new principle. Only shenanigans can ensue from there.

The Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes – The Private War of Doctor Doom (S2E1)
In the premiere of season 2, The Avengers are hosting the Fantastic Four in the Avengers Mansion and soon gets attacked by Doctor Doom’s team. Susan Storm and Wasp are kidnapped and we find out some bad news.

Right from the get go I was a little peeved that they changed the theme song. The theme song to EMH has been one of my favorites for a long time and you RARELY get awesome theme songs to shows these days. I know its not a huge problem, but it was something I really liked about the show!

As per usual, Janet continues to be my favorite on the show other than Thor who was not in this episode. Her personality and attitude just make me love her so much as a character in the Marvel universe.

I did find myself rewinding parts of the episode because it felt kind of slow at times and I got distracted with other things but for the most part it was a good season premier with an excellent twist that will most likely play a part throughout most of the season(?).

DC Nation Review
Overall, the only show I enjoy on DC Nation so far is Young Justice. I gave Green Lantern a chance but it’s just not my cup-o-tea. I DO enjoy majority of the shorts like Super Best Friends Forever and the claymation Batman short where they’re all voice by English children it sounds like. I also really enjoy the little segment where they take weapons used in the DC Universe and put them to the test. The first one I saw was with Red Arrows arrows and the second was with Batarangs.

But for the most part I am not really liking the DC Nation as a whole so far.

I really hope later down the line it improves.

Marvel Universe Review
For this being the first weekend it’s premiering, I am REALLY impressed with it. At first, I was a little peeved that they kind of took the same idea DC Nation had with testing out abilities, weapons and such but as the block continued I grew more and more interested.

Other segments they have are Fury Files which takes one character in the Marvel Universe and breaks it down for you. A short bio about who they are and how they came to be, a brief intro on their skills, weapons or powers and more. It definitely helps someone who isn’t familiar with Marvel Characters to get introduced to them (something DC has not done yet on their block).

They also have a segment called Marvel Master Class where they show us how to draw some Marvel characters. In the first one they showed us how to create The Hulk.

Another thing they have that DC has is shorts. One being called Marvel Mashups where they take classic Marvel show clips and dub them with new jokes or comedy. I find these to be really weird.

The three promotional shorts, titled “Abed’s Master Key” parts I, II & III, features the animated alter-egos and voices of the “Community” series regulars with each episode running approximately two minutes in length.

Fascinating.

According to CBS, Leonard Nimoy will appear on the March 29th episode of The Big Bang Theory.

“First reported by TVLine.com, Sheldon will have his Star Trek idol Spock (Leonard Nimoy) speak to him in a dream sequence for the March 29th episode.“

If you’ve been watching The Big Bang Theory since the beginning you’d know that Sheldon fangirls over Spock like a pre-teen over Justin Bieber. This has been one guest appearance I have been waiting for (and perhaps some MORE Wil Wheaton please?) and I will be tuning in on the 29th to catch the Nimoy-Sheldon interaction!

Lucy Liu…Sherlock Holmes…Watson.

Joan Watson to be exact.

The show will be called Elementary and it follows Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) who is a NYPD cop and recovering addict and his ‘sober companion’ and ex-surgeon Watson.

Normally, I like to give remakes a chance..but majority of the time they are horrible and end up being canceled (remember that Charlie’s Angels remake?….me neither) and this is one remake I won’t even bother watching.

I am a long time Sherlock Holmes fan (and no, just JUST of the R.D.J films and BBCs Sherlock) and I cringed when I read that this was happening. I am also a bit peeved about the gender swap (I tend to be in favor of women kicking ass and taking names on television/in movies) but I personally feel Sherlock should be left as is. And how many shows will be put out where the whole premise is a disgruntled/hard headed/’I don’t need no woman tellin’ me what to do but I’ll warm up to you mid-season so hang in there!’ male and his girl sidekick anyway?

A large chunk of the Sherlock Holmes fandom has caused a serious uproar and I know I am hoping that this show just never sees the light of day much like the Wonder Woman remake.

Today, in the heart of Hollywood, cast members of “The Simpsons” showed up to promote this Sunday’s 500th episode. There was a bit more to this meet and greet however as 100 die-hard “Simpsons” fans showed up to help smash a Guinness World Record of consecutive television watching.

The contestants were made comfortable inside a massive yellow tent that would be showing all 500 episodes of the hit show. These crazed couch potatoes will be given 3 meals a day and snacks to sustain them as well as a 10 minute break for every 2 hours they spent in their chairs. Sounds easy enough right? Well not so much.

The contest started at 5:00pm PST and given the 20 minute episodes, commercial free of course, the contestants will be forced to skip REM sleep until about Sunday morning. Judges will be disqualifying anyone who nods off or takes their eyes off the screen for longer than a sneeze.

We will update this post over the next couple of days with some of the results but if you’re like us normal folks, you’ll just be watching “The Simpsons” 500th episode from the comfort of your own home, after a full night’s sleep, this Sunday night on FOX.

You may have geeked out over her when she portrayed Lois Lane in the hit WB show “Smallville” but Erica Durance gives nerds a whole new reason to lock their doors after saying goodnight to their parents.

In this week’s episode of “Harry’s Law”, Durance sports the Wonder Woman outfit which was designed for the show that never made it to production.

For those of you who loved the FOX series “Arrested Development”, it wasn’t long ago when we found out that the series would be returning for a 4th season. It was also being decided which network would be airing the series once it returned. Well the news is out that the Bluth family has found a home and it’s going to cost you $7.99 a month to stream through the Netflix service. Netflix may have been able to save “Arrested Development” but the questions is, can “Arrested Development” save Netflix?

As of today, the Netflix stock closed at $70.45 after reaching over $300.00 a share earlier this year. Netflix has been a sinking stone since CEO Reed Hastings decided to raise subscription fees 60%, split the service into two different companies only to retract the decision and now we are finding out that they are selling stocks and raising funds to meet a $400 million goal in order to operate in the UK next year.

Admittedly, Netflix has told its shareholders that the company won’t be posting a profit in all of 2012 and that the cost of licensing fees and operating in the UK has been a bit of a financial challenge. Since the company has lost nearly a million subscribers and those who are staying will most likely down grade their memberships, customers and shareholders alike are trying to find out how Netflix will stay afloat.

“Arrested Development” is the first show that will be exclusive to the Netflix service. With all of the negative aura surrounding the company, many are wondering if Netflix can survive long enough to see “Arrested Development” when it is set to air in 2013. Will fans of the show subscribe to Netflix just to see the Bluths back in action or will this prove to be another flop on the part of the battered company? Only time will tell.
