“The Office” – Season 5, Episode 21 – “Heavy Competition”

Dwight’s loyalty to Michael is tested when he finds a new hero in Charles. Meanwhile, Andy tries to provide for all of Jim’s emotional needs.

“The Office” airs tonight at 9/8c on NBC.

Jack Bauer has spent 6 of his longest, adrenaline-overloaded days ever in the City of Angels, and most recently a 7th in the heart of our Nation’s Capital.  With CTU dissolved and Jack being charged on numerous counts of criminal torture by an intransigent Senator Blaine Mayer (spoiler: who is now deceased), where does our terrorist-whooping, resurrecting, jugular-snatching, mildly-cursing badass of a federal agent find himself saving the world next season?  Well, what better city for Mr. Bauer to take on than the Big Apple?

That’s right – sources have confirmed that season 8 of “24″ will relocate to New York.  Like the current seventh season, season 8′s exterior shots will be filmed on location, whereas interior shots will be filmed in Los Angeles.  Production is scheduled to get underway within the next month.

Now did you really think that was it?  Because wait, there’s more!  Welcome the return of CTU (Counter-Terrorist Unit)!  The counter-terrorist organization will be returning under the new leadership of a character named Brian Hastings.  A character profile has been released revealing Hastings as an “MBA type with a razor sharp intellect”.  Joining CTU will be two male and female agents in their twenties along with everybody’s favorite, offbeat computer whiz, Chloe O’ Brian.

While this may be old news for some, it may still be new news for others – Anil Kapoor, the buttery game show host from “Slumdog Millionaire”, will be taking on the role of Arman Hashem, a Middle Eastern leader on a peacemaking mission in the US.  Casting is currently underway for the brother and wife of the character.

Could this possibly be a lead as to where season 8′s terrorist threat will stem from?  We don’t know; but what we do know is that season 7 has been kicking some major terrorist ass to this point.  With only 6 more episodes left of season 7, what say we send Starkwood Industries off to its cold, dark grave and figure out what the hell’s going on in that clean-shaven head of our fickle ol’ buddy, Mr. Almeida here.  WTF, TONY???  Wtf……

Suspicions about a possible breach intensify after Ben is taken from the infirmary, and a reluctant Miles is forced to work with Hurley when he’s asked to deliver an important package to a top Dharma official.

Tess invites Clark to a press conference in New York but when an explosion rocks the private jet they are on, Clark must figure out how to save them without Tess learning his secret.  Unbeknownst to Clark, Tess orchestrated the explosion to get Clark to reveal his powers.  Meanwhile, Davis discovers a surprising way to control the monster within.

When old friends drop in unannounced, Sawyer must perpetuate his lie to protect them.

After a one-week hiatus, “Lost” returns tonight at 9/8c on ABC!

“Lost” Facts

• The first season depicts the first 44 days on the island. Locke mentions this when talking to Desmond inside the hatch.
• ABC opted not to fly the intact N783DL to Hawaii first before dismantling it. Instead, ABC dispatched 40 production workers to Mojave to cannibalize and ship the aircraft pieces. Dismantling took about 5 days in February 2004.
• During Charlie’s heroin scenes, Dominic Monaghan is actually snorting brown sugar.
• Vincent, the dog, is actually played by a female dog, whose name is Madison (IX).
• The two-part pilot episode was the most expensive in ABC’s history, reportedly costing between $10 million and $14 million. The average pilot is usually in the region of $4 million.
• Yunjin Kim originally read for the character of Kate. The producers felt she was not what they were looking for in Kate, but decided to create a new character for her, along with a spouse.
• Jorge Garcia (I), ‘Matthew Fox’ and Dominic Monaghan all auditioned originally for the part of Sawyer. as the other characters had not been developed yet.
• Michael Keaton was considered for the part of Jack, but turned it down. Had he accepted, he would have been killed off in the pilot episode.
• Forest Whitaker was originally cast in the role of Sawyer, but opted out of the role to direct First Daughter (2004).

2 More Seasons of Terrorist Whoop-Assing for Agent Bauer

“24″ executive producer David Fury recently had this to say regarding the future of the show:

I would love to tell you of my other big plans and upcoming projects as I was certain I’d be moving on from at this time… But, instead, I am in the process of renewing my contract as an executive producer of 24 for two more seasons.

Jack is back.  Twice!  As for the source of that quote, it was from an interview with Fury mainly regarding Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
